Farewell 2020 and Hello 2021

Let me begin by offering my heartfelt thanks to the countless essential workers (postal, grocery, sanitation, banking, police, fire, hospital and more!) who showed up no matter what. You are all ROCK STARS in my mind and I humbly place my palms together in gratitude and celebration of your dedication — thank you, thank you, thank you!

It goes without saying, this has been an extraordinary year. For me personally, I have been afforded the opportunity to define what really matters most. I only wish it wouldn’t have taken a world pandemic to get me to this point. Maybe you can relate?

Up until March 13, 2020, I was blissfully ignorant and perfectly content just hiding out in the creative utopia I had made for myself here in The Plains, Virginia. It was in the coming home to my family and the fear of the unknown that I came to realize it isn’t dying that scares me; but, rather not living.

Officially overdue, here in Week 42 of this isolation period, I am a more patient, compassionate, grateful and honest human being. The silence and darkness endured during this time has allowed me to speak my truth and accept the challenges that have been long waiting for me to arrive in the present moment.

In just a a few weeks, I will turn 50. For many women, I know, that is a major milestone and a unique opportunity to redefine yourself. For me, I wish to celebrate the simple fact that I survived 50 years on this planet. Yeehaw!

And, make the promise, for every morning I wake up beyond this moment in time, I will do my best to live up to my fullest potential by embracing the talents and desires that already exist within and sharing the joy that results by doing so with the world.

2021: A celebration of 50 years of life and 50K+ subscribers.

Sewing is the medium in which I connected with the power of creativity. It is my life’s purpose to bring that joy to others and that is WHY I started this community, via YouTube, in October 2015. I might not have understood it then when I set the goal to teach 10,000 women how to sew; but, I am so grateful I took the chance and hit the record button.

Just yesterday, we crossed over the 50K subscriber benchmark here at Sewspire. It truly has been a life changing journey and I want to thank you all for your continued interest and for spending any amount of your precious life with me.

Initially, I had planned to host our 50K party Feb. 2 at 2 p.m. ET; but, I do hate to make you wait so long! So, what we will do instead is celebrate for four weeks in January.

Based upon the poll I posted in the fall of 2020, you all would like to commemorate this milestone with sewing tutorials and fabric giveaways. And, I would like to commemorate it with 50 sewing challenges and 50 random acts of compassion. ‘Sew’ that’s what we shall do!

Join me, Tuesday, January 5 at 2 p.m. ET on YouTube to make my Ultimate Craft Caddy and the chance to win a $50 gift card to Hawthorne Threads!

Join me, Tuesday, January 12 at 2 p.m. ET on YouTube to make my Boxy Ziptop Cosmetic Bag and the chance to win a private 50 minute Zoom sewing session with me!

Join me, Tuesday, January 19 at 2 p.m. ET on YouTube to accept one of fifty sewing challenges I have prepared for you and the chance to win a flat rate envelope of 50 + colorful remnants from my scrap collection!

Join me, Tuesday, January 26 at 2 p.m. ET on YouTube to learn more about my mission to bestow 50 random acts of compassion in 2021 and how you can join in on the fun!

Until then, as always, you know I will be here celebrating the creative genius in you!

May 2021 be filled with light, love and creativity for all…

Big hugs,

Andrea
