Hey y’all and welcome to the Sewspire! My name is Andrea and today I am here to show you how to sew a Saddle Bag that can be used to organize a variety of things.
For this project you will need to precut the following fabric panels:
(2) 12″ x 22″ exterior body panels from quilt weight cotton
(2) 12″ x 22″ interior body panels from twill
(2) 12″ x 7″ interior pocket panels from twill
(2) 8″ x 13″ flap panels from quilt weight cotton (each lined with an 8″ x 7.5″ piece of quilt batting)
(1) 5″ x 13″ handle from quilt weight cotton (lined with a 1.25″ x 13″ strip of extra firm Pellon)
(2) 4″ strips of sew in hook and loop tape
For your fabric planning purposes: I purchased 1 yard of 44″ quilt weight cotton and 1 yard of 54″ twill and was able to craft two saddle bags with approximately a 1/3 yard of the twill remaining.
