Deborah Feinn and I have been co-teaching for about a year now. I create the instructional content, share it with the world via YouTube, and she takes it upon herself to learn how to sew the project, refine her technique and then teach the project in a group or one-on-one setting. Every so often, she delights me with an email explaining how the project has been received or (even better) sends a photo of her students smiling proudly and holding the finished bag.
It is my hope that there are many more Sewspire subscribers, like Deborah, who have the confidence and patience to teach the art of sewing to those in their nexus who express an interest.
The prospect of creating a legacy with my designs was paramount to the decision I made to close my brick and mortar boutique in 2016. At the time, I had no idea this wish of mine would blossom into such a beautiful community of makers; nor did I expect to find others who share my desire to inspire and willingly take it upon themselves to propagate my designs and methods. It’s a symbiotic relationship and I doubt we can measure the impact or worth of our collective efforts.
I don’t think it is possible to say thank you enough. I am so grateful to everyone (yourself included) who has played any role, however minuscule, in sustaining this platform. Even the naysayers are invaluable as they offer the contrast so we can further define the why and the how of this creative space that we have co-designed.
Until next time, you know, the creative genius in me will be celebrating the creative genius in you.
Endless love and respect,
Andrea
