Hey y’all and welcome to Sewspire!
This is the first video in a series of two videos that will cover how to make my latest bag design which I have affectionately named the “P.S. I Love You Tote” as the accent panel is a large Pineapple Square and it just so happens I really do love this bag!
In part two, we craft the exterior, quilt the exterior, craft the interior and finish the bag off with two rigid skinny straps.
For the exterior you will need to cut one more panel that is the same size as your finished pineapple square and 3 side panels that are 6″ wide and the same height as your finished pineapple square. Line all 5 exterior pieces with quilt batting in the same dimensions.
For the interior you will need to cut 3 side panels that are the same height as your finished pineapple square and 6″ wide and two body panels that are the same measurement of your finished pineapple square.
For your reference, my finished square measured 14″ x 14″ and my side panels measured 14″ x 6″.
The straps measure 3″ wide by 26″ long and are lined with a 3″ strip of Pellon non fusible interfacing to add rigidity.
Until we meet again, please know the creative genius in me celebrates the creative genius in you.
Blissfully yours,
Andrea
P.S. I am not a self proclaimed quilter; but, rather an enthusiast who is learning right alongside of you. So…please don’t be too judgmental if my corners are a wee bit crooked or I don’t follow some rule I am unaware of. The finished bag is still a showstopper!
P.S.S. Also, a big congratulations to Brandi Kunkle the winner of our Collaborative Beach Bag! If you’d like to enter to win our finished P.S. I Love You Tote Bag you can do that by clicking on the Happy Mail tab in the top navigation. I have posted photos of the bag you are entering to win below.
